Well.. yesterday was the culmination of yet another disappointing season for the Giants. But we did get one last look at their most promising player--and what a performance! Lincecum had 9 strikeouts by the end of the third inning, and 11 by the end of the fifth.
More photos from the game below--lots of Lincecum...One of Hiroki Kuroda looking like some type of contortionist...One of what might be Vizquel's last hit as a major leaguer...A shot of Velez and Molina each breaking their bats... and a few more.
Huge thanks to Ron for the ticket, and a big thanks to Emil for letting me try out his 300mm f4L lens for a few innings (very nice results---and it was surprisingly light, which is always a good thing).
Yah! These are great! Especially the Lincecum shots - helps to have good material. And two broken bats in stop action! Terrific! And then the shot to the outfield bleachers, amazing - 400 or so feet away, handheld, and the clarity is fabulous. Thanks Sean.
Hey Guys -
Nice meeting you both. Wish we'd had more time to yak. I always enjoy commiserating about the Giants, and how much I (we) could help clean things up for "next year", to get them back on track...
Photos are amazing.
Let's do it again next year. Start saving your money, Ron...

PS - back when I was coaching Little League with my kids, I read a pitching book by Nolan Ryan. One small factoid I recall is that longevity and injury avoidance in pitchers seems to be related to flexibility in their front leg, i.e., that they bend their knee during the course of the pitch. Looks like Lincecum read that book, too.
